History of HARC
January, 2006
The California Wellness Foundation awards the Desert Healthcare Foundation a two year grant of $200,000 to re-brand the Foundation as the regional health data collection system for individuals, agencies and institutions in the Coachella Valley.
July, 2006
The collaborative names the organization HARC, Health Assessment Resource Center. A Steering Committee of 30 community organizations forms to guide the survey process, and the geographical coverage area expands to include Eastern Riverside County.
August, 2006 through January, 2008
The adult and child survey instrument is developed with input from HARC’s Steering Committee Ad Hoc adult and child teams.
September, 2006

HARC incorporates and forms a Board of Directors, making application for nonprofit status.
February and March, 2007
Field survey begins, encompassing 50,000 calls needed to achieve 3,150 completed responses. February 26th, HARC receives its 501 (c) 3 tax status from the Internal Revenue Service.
April, 2007
Researchers send weighted data for analysis.
Winter, 2007-2008
Survey findings to be presented at major public event. HARC will provide overview on ways in which to utilize the data for development of programs and services.
February 13, 2008
Key findings from the survey are presented to over 160 attendees at California State University San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus. Each attendee is provided with an Executive Summary highlighting over 140 keys findings. Watch our video...

HARC partners with the UCLA Health DATA Program providing training to empower participants to understand, apply and present findings from the HARC Health Needs Assessment and other relevant health research data in their advocacy and policy work in the Eastern Riverside County.
